SOMD CAN Begins Sessions for 2007-2008
At SoMD CAN, our heads are spinning. We are putting together our curriculum for 2007-2008 school year, getting our roster of SoMD CAN participants ready (with help from the Guidance Staff at each school we serve), and getting absolutely fired up about working with our participating juniors and seniors.
If you are a junior or senior high school student at the following high schools – Calvert High, Patuxent High, Great Mills High, or Leonardtown High – and you fit the selection criteria of first generation college bound (your parent’s didn’t go to or complete a higher ed degree), seeking financial assistance, or are a minority student – you should ask the Guidance Department to sign you up to participate in the SoMD CAN/College Access Network program.
We’ll work with students during their lunch period once a week, delivering a curriculum rich in resources, organization tools, exercises to determine best fit of college, and financial resources and scholarships.
